His Story
Cody came into our life as a tiny grey ball of fur with the most curious golden eyes. From day one, he owned the house. He had this way of looking at you that made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. He'd curl up on your lap during late-night coding sessions, purring softly, as if to say “I'm here, keep going.”
He loved sitting by the window watching birds, chasing invisible things across the room at 3 AM, and stealing warm spots on the bed the second you got up. He was playful, gentle, stubborn in the most adorable way, and endlessly loving.
Cody wasn't just a cat. He was a companion. A comfort. A reason to smile on hard days. He made our home feel complete.
What Happened
Cody got sick. At first, the signs were subtle — eating a little less, sleeping a bit more, being quieter than usual. We thought he was just having an off week. But over the next few weeks, things got worse. He stopped eating. He was in visible pain. Something was very wrong.
After rushing him to the vet, we got the diagnosis: an intestinal tumor. It had created a blockage that was stopping everything from passing through. The tumor was blocking his intestine completely. He had been suffering in pain for nearly a month before we fully understood what was happening. He was only 8 months old.
There was nothing more we could do. The kindest thing — the hardest thing we've ever done — was to let him go peacefully, without any more pain. On March 17, 2026, we held him one last time and said goodbye. He was put to sleep in our arms.
The house feels empty. His favorite spot on the couch is still warm in our memory. His food bowl is still in the kitchen. We keep expecting to hear his little paws on the floor.
The hardest part? Knowing that if we had caught the symptoms earlier — if we had known that a kitten losing appetite and being lethargic for days could mean something this serious — if we had a community of experienced pet parents to ask, if we had a vet just a tap away — maybe we could have caught it before it was too late. Maybe he'd still be here.
“If only there was a place where pet parents could connect, share symptoms, ask questions, and find a vet before it's too late...”
That thought kept repeating in our heads. Thousands of first-time pet owners face the same situation every day. They don't know the warning signs. They don't have a pet community. They don't have access to quick vet consultations. By the time they figure it out, it's often too late.
